The Avocet Theatre Company Awards
In 2019, as part of ATC's 4 for 4 initiative, the group announced the creation of The Avocet Theatre Company Awards. These are yearly awards, presented at a ceremony with the aim of celebrating members and volunteers. The first of these awards were held in January 2020.
The list of awards are as follows:
The Tom Greening Memorial Award for Services to Drama
Awarded to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to both Avocet Theatre Company and to the arts this past season.
The Newcomer Award
Awarded to someone who has joined ATC in the past season and has made an outstanding contribution to Avocet Theatre Company.
The Unsung Hero Award
Awarded to someone who has done something in support of Avocet Theatre Company without need of celebration or reference.
The Season Achievement Award
This is awarded to someone who has achieved something outstanding within Avocet Theatre Company this season – a bit like a lifetime achievement award!
The Special Recognition Award
Awarded to someone who deserves recognition for his or her work and contribution, on stage or off, this past season.
The Most Improved Award
Awarded to someone who has shown a huge improvement over the course of the season.
The Male Performer of the Year Award
Awarded to a male performer who the Avocet Theatre Company committee, in tandem with the seasons various production teams, feel contributed greatly to a production. They might not have been the ‘best’ performer on stage, but perhaps have improved or contributed something, without which, the production would have been lacking in some form.
The Female Performer of the Year Award
Awarded to a female performer who the Avocet Theatre Company committee, in tandem with the seasons various production teams, feel contributed greatly to a production. They might not have been the ‘best’ performer on stage, but perhaps have improved or contributed something, without which, the production would have been lacking in some form.
The Moment of the Season Award
Awarded to someone who has delivered one of the most memorable moments in the last season. This may be due to an outstanding performance or even an embarrassing moment! Regardless, without this moment the Season would not have been as successful or as fun as it was!
The ATC Committees’ Choice Award
Voted on by the ATC Committee. This may be based on a number of reasons that the committee deem worthy of an award that perhaps doesn’t fall into another award category.
The ATC Members’ Choice Award
Voted on by the ATC Membership over the course of the past season. A person might be nominated for a number of reasons. The ATC Chairman and/or an outside individual will then decide whom they think, based on the reasons stated by the nominator, deserves the award.
The Chairman’s Choice Award
The recipient of this award is chosen exclusively by the Chairman of ATC. This is awarded to someone who the Chairman would like to recognise for his or her contribution to Avocet Theatre Company over the last season.
